While walking on the street with Marie, he was struck by an adolescent riding a bicycle. He fell backwards and hit his head on the street. He spent 1 week in the hospital and died of his injuries. Marie was left to raise his 3 children by herself.

Frederick married Marie Katherine Glessien. (Marie Katherine Glessien was born on 30 Nov 1882 in Lichtenfels, Germany and died on 22 Jul 1952 in Cambria Heights, Queens, New York, New York, USA.)
