bullet  General Notes:

In March 1803 Thomas Taplin was questioned by the Overseer about his parish of settlement, and Dogmersfield started to pay Ann a maintenance allowance in April of 6s a month. In August 1806 she gave birth to a
daughter Jane. In September 1807 Thomas transferred from the militia to the 77th Regiment. He was a substitute for a Bentley man and that parish paid Ann's maintenance for the next two years at £4 13s 0d per annum. At that time she was getting 3s a week from Dogmersfield although still living in Crondall and getting her rent paid. " Paid Mr. Snuggs of Crondall for 40 weeks rent for Sarah (sic) Taplin from 11th July last. Paid per 9d a week £1 10s 0d." The Dogmersfield Overseer referred to her as " Taplin's wife of Crondall." In 1809 Ann was not managing on her allowance: "August 19th paid Taplin's wife 2 weeks pay at 2s 6d per week per order of
Mr Salmon to pay off Bartholomew's bill - 5s." The 6d a week was deducted until the beginning of November when Ann was removed under a settlement order from Crondall to Dogmersfield.

Ann was widowed some time after 1810 and she is then referred to as "the widow Taplin".
