bullet  General Notes:

The death occurred in Farnham Hospital on Saturday, after an operation and short illness, of Mr. Thomas William Bonner ("Uncle Tom"). Aged 82, Mr. Bonner, who had lived at Hollowdene for some years past, was born at Priory Lane, and, apart from short spells away, had made his home in the village nearly all his life. He was a devoted worshipper at St. Mary's Church and a member of the choir there for nearly 75 years. He was a past grandmaster of the Pierrepoint Lodge of Oddfellows, of which he had been a member for sixty years. He was also a member of the C.E.M.S., and the Frensham British Legion and the Bowls Club, playing until the end of last season. The loss of his wife two years ago was a great blow to him. He is survived by two brothers and three sisters. Always ready to lend a helping hand, he will be much missed in the village. The funeral at St. Mary's Church on Wednesday was conducted by the vicar (the Rev. C.J. Allen) The service was fully choral, the choir being in attendance. Mr. T.A. Stroud was at the organ and the hymns "Abide with me" and "There is a land of pure delight" were sung and Psalm 23 and the Nune Dimittis chanted. The family mourners included Mr. A. Bonner and Mr F. Bonner (brothers), Mrs R West (sister), Mr. J. Bonner, Mr. E. Bonner, Mrs. and Mrs J Beadle, Mr. and Mrs. J. Farr, Mrs. R. Fathers (nephews and nieces). Among others present were Mrs. Arkell, Capt. and Mrs. Diver, Mrs. Glaysher, and Mrs Carter and Olag (friedns). Among the many beautiful wreaths was the one from the Frensham Bowls Club."
