Moved to Canada possible with his brother Frederick. His sister Jane was to follow in 1911. In 1911 Canadian census working on a farm in Richmond, Quebec. In 1913 James was a private in the 53rd Regiment, Sherbrooke in 1913-14. In 1916 James signed attestation paper to fight in World War 1. He signed as James Edward, and he said he was born in Sherbrooke. This is incorrect he was born in London, but is the correct James because he named his father Frederick of 30 Dupont Street, as his next of kin. This is the correct address for Frederick. James arrived back in Canada on 19 Jun 1919 on the ship Aquitania with other militia. He sailed from Southampton and arrived in Halifax, Nova Scotia. In 1940 James was a cheuffeur living at 6572 Rue Alma, Montreal with wife Winnie.
