General Notes:
Feb 1913 (aged 6) after death of father was removed from his mothers house and lived at the Workhouse Cornwallis Road with brother Albert Henry (aged 9). 1922 went to sea. Given mercantile certificate for first voyage as a deck boy, having walked to Liverpool. Described as having hazel eyes, light brown hair and a fair complexion. Served on banana boats. On one occasion fell down the hold and suffered head injuries. He lodged in Port Sunlight and while there found work with Lever Brothers the soap manufacturers. In 1954 he was transferred to Edinburgh and in 1972 moved to Criccieth, North Wales.
Horace married Eileen Bather Q3 1936 in Birkenhead.
