bullet  General Notes:

The third son William had emigrated to Wellington, New Zealand on 18.1.1892 aboard the "IONIC". His occupation was recorded as an Engineer. The shipping line owning the vessel was Shaw, Savill & Albion & Co.Ltd of New Zealand. The vessel was 1700 sq.ft, of 3070 tonnage and carried 88 passengers. The master of the vessel was W.H.Kidley. The next I found out about William is another Newspaper insertion of Saturday 12th August 1899. "A New Zealand paper of June 14, containing the Eketahuna Notes, has the following: - A very pretty wedding took place here today at the residence of Mr.N. Lund, when Mr. W. Crocker was united in the bonds of matrimony to Miss M Lund, the ceremony being performed by the Rev. W. Dawson. The bride was attired in a travelling dress of brown shot silk, trimmed with blue silk and gold gimp, tastefully got up with cream chiffon and orange blossoms. The bridesmaids were Miss Annie Lund (sister of the bride), and Miss Marian Thomasen, both being prettily dressed in white muslin and lace. The bride carried a beautiful bouquet of white marguerite daisies. Mr. F. Wise acted as best man. The presents were numerous and costly. The happy pair left by the afternoon train for Wellington, where the honeymoon is to be spent. Mr. Crocker is the son of Mrs. Crocker, White House, Tilehurst and has been in New Zealand about 9 years. William returned at the age of 53 aboard the "Mataroa" arriving at Southampton on 2nd July 1930. His occupation was recorded as a carpenter. He was alone. Unfortunately I have been unable to find out anything concerning William whilst he was away. William passed away in the first part of 1961 aged 83 in Maidenhead, Berkshire.
