General Notes:
Augustus "Gus" W. Dymes, 80, of State Route 7, died unexpectedly on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Albany Medical Center. Born June 15, 1936 in Ossining, he was the son of Augustus and Lillian (Beasley) Dymes. Gus received his associate's degree in Agriculture/Business from SUNY Cobleskill. He was employed for thirty-five years with Agway, Inc. and then continued to work at his son's store, Altamont Country Values until his passing. An avid gardener with a strong work ethic, he ran two greenhouses at his farm. From his greenhouses, he wholesaled many of his plants, but he got most satisfaction out of donating to numerous charities and fundraisers such as the Cranesville Reformed Church, the CRCS Booster Club and the Boy Scout fundraiser held during Richmondville Days. Gus was predeceased by his wife, Virginia, who died in 2002, and two grandchildren, Alexis Dymes and Matthew Gagnon. Survivors include his five children: Mike (Cindy) Dymes of Altamont, Kim (George) Heatherly of Gig Harbor, WA, Pat Gagnon of Westfield, MA, Tracee (Floyd) Douglas of Broadalbin, Daniel (Sharine) Dymes of Cobleskill; his sister, Pat Lynch of Tampa, FL; eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. There will be no formal funeral service.
Augustus married Lillian Beasley on 31 Jul 1927 in Croton, Westchester, New York, USA. (Lillian Beasley was born on 5 Feb 1906 in New York, USA and died on 9 Dec 1984 in Lynchburg, Virginia, USA.)
