John O'Driscoll (or Driscoll) who immigrated to the US from County Cork in 1849 and ended up landing in Baltimore and joined the US Army in 1850. He was discharged from the Army in 1860 at Ft. Leavenworth, KS. According to family legend he fled Ireland under less than normal circumstances.

John married Sarah Ann Roach on 24 Aug 1869.
