The Bakewell family originaly in Derbyshire, England, at a very early date, through the registry of the College of Arms locates it in Middlesex, near London, about the middle of the fiftennth century. A branch of the family settled in Leicestershire and founded there the town of Bakewell. This is located in the parish of Bakewell, containing some firty three thousand acres in the Hundred of High Peak Derby.
