Jacob emigrated to US in May 1881 with his parents, brother Francis (Frank) and sister (Josephine). In later years Jacob and his sister both lived in Unionport, Westchester County (later the Bronx).
Jacob was a blacksmith and wagon maker by trade. With Brother Frank owned business called J.Kassler and Sons (they were the sons) that operated for many years in Wooster Street in NYC
In 1895 Jacob was fire chief of a Unionport firehouse.
In 1910 census was living at 2159 Story Avenue, Unionport.
In 1930 census was living at 940 Castle Hill Avenue, the Bronx.
Jacob married Anna Schmidt in 1902 in Holy Family Church, Bronx, New York, USA. (Anna Schmidt was born in 1879 in Bavaria and died about 1944.)
