William Dimes

1881 Census living in Dippenhall Street, Crondall with parents and 4 siblings.
William stayed in Crondall and married Charlotte Marie Elizabeth early in 1901 and lived in a cottage near the Malthouse. Bill was a gardener and was tall and dark and had a 'bad foot', possibly the result of a kick from a horse. For many years he was chief bell ringer. He said he was not related to any other Dimes in the village! Charlotte was known as 'Little Mrs. Dimes'. Charlotte died in 1940 and Bill in 1953 and they have a memorial cross on their grave in the churchyard
