CHARLES DIMES (1804-1860) Charles was the youngest son of Nathaniel and Elizabeth Dimes and was born in Crondall and baptized on 2nd September 1804. He married Hannah Gilbert at All Saints on 21st April 1832. She came from Froyle and was the daughter of Thomas Gilbert and his second wife Mary, nee Silver. They had six children, the oldest being Frederick born in 1833, who went to work in London as a young man. Then came the only daughter, Selina, who married Joseph Spenser in Farnham. George, born 1837, Daniel, born 1839 and Albert, born 1844 followed and the last child, Charles, was born in 1850 but only survived three years.
The family lived at the Malthouse in Dippenhall Street. Charles was an agricultural labourer but he contracted tuberculosis and died aged 55 in 1860.
Charles married Hannah Gilbert, daughter of Thomas Gilbert and Mary Silver, on 21 Apr 1832. (Hannah Gilbert was born in 1811 in Froyle, Hampshire, England, christened on 16 Jun 1811 in Froyle, Hampshire, England and died Q1 1895 in Crondall, Hampshire, England.)
