By 1871 Daniel was the only child still living with his mother Hannah at the Malthouse. In 1872, Daniel married Caroline Spreadborough who moved in as well. Caroline was born in Bentley. Daniel and Caroline had three daughters and a son Arthur by 1886. Hannah was still working as a laundress in 1881 and lived on until 1895. Daniel died in 1922 and Caroline in 1930 and a memorial cross marks their grave at Crondall.
Daniel married Caroline Spreadborough, daughter of William Spreadborough and Harriet, on 25 May 1872 in Crondall, Hampshire, England.
