Walter David Dimes

  General Notes:

Walter used to walk to school from Crondall to Farnham Grammer School (about 4 miles each way). On leaving school worked as an accountant at Vickers Aircraft, Farnborough.
Walter and his brother Albert would wait for his future wife to finish work at Woolworths in Farnham, making faces through the window to get young Dorothy's attention. It worked.
WW1 Private in the Machine Gun Corps, overseas in 1916.
Walter was a good artist, and used to draw all his Christmas cards with a pen. They looked great remembered his daughter Dorothy.
When Walter and Dorothy get married they lived with Dorothy's parents at 39 Stoke Hills, Farnham. Then later moved to Upper Trapes, just off Crondall Lane, Farnham.
Walter enlisted again for WW2, this time in thr airforce. He was probably discharged with ill health.
In 1946 moved to Roman Way, Farnham. From 1947 contantly in and out of Milford Chest Hospital with lung cancer. During time out of hospital would like to walk with Dorothy in the primrose woods, or gather mushrooms, or help his brother Albert make signs. If home on a Saturday night would go to the Old Fireman's club in South Street.

Walter married Dorothy Jane Peerman, daughter of George Peerman and Elizabeth Kate, on 23 Aug 1933 in Farnham, Surrey, England. (Dorothy Jane Peerman was born in 1910 and died on 24 Dec 2000.)
