Richard Dymes (1714-) |
Richard Dymes
General Notes: The third brother and son of Thomas and Ann Knobee was Richard who was apprenticed to the tailor Oswin Sutton in 1831. He also chose to get married in 1741. His bride was Elizabeth Stanton. They chose to be married by licence obtained from the Bishop of Winchester and had permission to choose Shalford or Stoke-next-Guildford. Their marriage allegation stated that they were both living in Staines. He was a tailor, aged 25 and she was 23. Their seconder who vouched for them was a Thomas Garrard, victualler of Guildford, probably a cousin of Richard's as his Aunt Ruth had married a Gilbert Garrard. The wedding ceremony took place at Shalford on 30th December 1741. Whether the couple continued to live in Staines is not known but there were no Dimes baptisms there. However, at some time they returned to Epsom as a son Thomas was baptised there on 18th January 1748/9 and a daughter, Sarah was baptised on 12th March 1755. Nothing more is known about these parents. Richard married Elizabeth Stanton on 30 Dec 1741 in Shalford, Surrey, England. Marriage Notes: Witnessed by Thomas Garrard, victualler of Guildford. |
