Charles (Dick) William Dimes

Charles William, Lizzie's son, another plumber and known as Dick, married Ethel Jane Gilroy in 1930. They had two sons, Charles Barry in 1934 in the Stratford area, and John Cedric in 1940 at Hamilton. Dick married again in 1946. It may also have been a second marriage for Thelma Jean as two surnames are given, Brown and Howe. Dick's sister Agnes Rose, known as Nessie, left school when she was 12 to go to work. She became a tailoress and was also a talented artist. She married Austin Sextus on 9th May 1935. Austin was born on 26th December 1911. He was christened under the surname Sixtus which was the original German family name but because of harassment during the First World War his father changed his surname to Sextus. In 1938 they were living at Vinegar Hill, Hunterville, where Austin was a labourer. During the Second World War Austin belonged to the Home Horse Guard and he managed a farm for the Weston family at Hunterville while the owners were away in the forces. In 1957 the Sextus family moved to their own farm at Manakau, South of Levin. Nessie died in 1982.

Charles next married Thelma Jean Howe in 1946.
