Mar 1906 apprenticed to Arthur Charles Bonsall of Bouverie Street, London for 7 years as a letter press apprenticeship printer. Alread was living at 33 Saville Street, Great Portland Street, West London. The apprenticeship was arranged by the Goldsmith Company.
WW1 Private in the Essex Regiment. Overseas in 1916, as a battery runner. Was shot by a sniper and badly wounded in the legs. After that he always used a stout walking stick.
Height 5 foot 1 inches, eyes brown, dark hair.
2 May 1923 made a freeman of the Goldsmith Company. Compositor of 159 Great Titchfield Street, Marylebone, London NW1.
Worked for many years as a compositor on Sporting Life.
