bullet  General Notes:

The 1861 census show him with his parents and brothers Charles and William. In 1871 it appears he was staying with his Uncle and Aunt, Charles and Harriet Crocker, youngest son of James and Harriet at The Leathern Bottle, Mattingley. In 1881 James and Ruth were living in Harmour Road, Tilehurst. At this time his widowed grandmother, Harriet was staying with them. 10 years later the 1891 census show they were still living in Harmour Rd but with the first 5 of their children. James was recorded as a bricklayer. By 1901 they had moved to Post Office Road, Tilehurst. They had 5 of their children living at home - Charles, Annie, Albert, Kate and Nellie. Also with them was James' Uncle Charles who was a widower aged 74, b1827? (I believe he was born 1829 tbc), - late a Shepherd. The 1911 census shows that the two eldest daughters were visiting (without their husbands) along with their children. James is still a bricklayer and they were living in Victoria Rd.
At time of death living at 13 Victoria Road, Reading.
